I totally identify with the challenge of pressing forward and leaving the things past behind. I’m the eternal ponderer of the big “why?” and sometimes get so caught up contemplating ’stuff’ that it leaves me in stasis, not moving forward and sometimes not even being present in the moment. Someday I’m going to have to give up the hope of a better past and learn how to live a better NOW which is the seed for a better tomorrow, lest I rob myself of anything good in the present or future by being stuck ruminating all my energy into what I truly CAN’T change. So as always, thanks for keeping it REAL with what you share and… thanks for reminding me that moving forward actually means DOING SOMETHING other than wondering why… because chasing why can be an allusive never-ending vortex that eclipses the possibility of so much. I can fool myself into thinking I’m doing something about the situation by analyzing it — too much, which for me really isn’t constructive at all, it’s hiding out. Wimps don’t put it on the line and call it for what it is and wimps don’t get their butt in gear, so I don’t think you wimped out today, I think you shut the window on the creepy why vortex and opened another door instead and chose to move past the threshold of possibility and into the constructive actuality of the now. (Inspiried by the example, maybe tomorrow I too will venture forth into the sea of possibilities like a warrior rather than hide in my house of never-ending why’s with the shades pulled down like a wimp. So thanks. My mantra at the moment is, though it feels empty, letting go of the bad at least leaves room for something good to come in.

    Smile’
Charlie Chaplin’s Theme Music for ‘Modern Times’
Lyrics by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons - 1954
Smile tho’ your heart is aching,
    Smile even tho’ it’s breaking,
When there are clouds in the sky
    You’ll get by,
    If you smile
    thro’ your fear and sorrow,
    Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You’ll see the sun come shin-ing thro’ for you
Light up your face with gladness,
    Hide ev-’ry trace of sadness,
Al -’tho a tear may be ever so near,
    That’s the time,
    You must keep on trying,
Smile, what’s the use of crying,
You’ll find that life is still worth-while,
    If you just smile,

My wimp tried to get all philosophical on me once; so, I punched him in the junk, put hemlock in his Honey Bunches of Oats, and watched him hang glide into an active volcano while listening to James Woods sing Barracuda on repeat - because I soldered iPod earpieces to his face.
By the way, Modern Times is my favorite movie.
